Lionel Andres Messi (born June 24, 1987) is an Argentine footballer who plays as a forward for Spanish club FC Barcelona and the Argentina national team.


– He has won five La Liga titles, three Champions League titles, scoring in two of those finals. Also winning the Copa del Rey and Spanish Supercup.

– Currently holding the record for most goals scored in a single season (73). Messi also holds the distinction of being the second-highest scorer at club level with 368 goals.

– Winning three FIFA Ballons d’Or, five European Golden Shoes, and two Pichichi trophies. He also holds the record for the most hat tricks in La Liga history with 40. And has scored in 21 consecutive league matches, a La Liga record, and 13 consecutive Champions League matches, a record shared with José Altafini.


– Winning an Olympic Gold Medal in Beijing in 2008, which made Messi the youngest Argentine to win a senior World Championship or Olympic tournament medal.

Diego Maradona:

Diego Armando Maradona (born 30 October 1960) is an Argentine retired professional footballer. Often considered the greatest football player of all time, and rated by many in the sport as the best ever, Maradona was joint FIFA Player of the 20th Century with Pelé.


– Winning two FIFA World Cups. His performance in the 1982 World Cup has been described as otherworldly.

– Awarded 1986 Ballon d’Or and named South American Footballer of the Year three times in a row (1984–1986).

– Winning an Intercontinental Cup and six Argentine Primera División titles with Argentinos Juniors and Boca Juniors respectively.

– Nominated for the FIFA Player of the Century award in 2000, Maradona scored 147 goals in international matches. This record is the highest for any Argentine player. He has also won an Intercontinental Cup, a World Youth Championship, two European Champion Clubs’ Cups, one UEFA Cup, one European Cup Winners’ Cup, a Serie A title, and a Coppa Italia with Napoli in 1986.
