Sports Socks are to wear for participation in athletic events, such as soccer or jogging. Or they can be worn as part of a casual outfit whenever you wear sneakers. Sport socks are often white, but more recently they have come out in black, grey or other colors. Regular socks are to wear for non-athletic activities or whenever you are wearing other than sneakers.

One of my favorite brands of sports socks is Ralph Lauren, “Polo Sport, Performance Crew.” They are much better in construction than usual athletic socks. They last longer and look better. I have them in white and black, but they come in other colors also. They are more expensive than most sports socks, but when you consider how long they last, it is well worth the price.

Best Socks For Sweaty Feet

Socks can help your feet remain more comfortable and feel dry even when they are sweating while you are playing.

In warm weather, I like to wear lightweight socks that do not come up above my ankles. These are sometimes a wicking fabric like Nike Dri-FIT and sometimes just lightweight cotton or polyester microfiber.

In cold weather (40-45 degrees F and below), I find that Smartwool socks are good for me. They keep my feet warm but not hot, and my feet feel dry. I have also recently gotten into Thor-Lo socks, which are especially useful when the temperature is chilly but not quite cold. Thor-Lo is a type of acrylic fiber.

Keep in mind that most soccer shoes are in line in a relatively inexpensive synthetic fabric. That stuff will make your feet sweat worse than almost any sock you could try, and don’t be in the temptation to go sockless unless you are prepared for your shoes to smell very bad very quickly.
